Expectations

As an Assistant Marketing Manager you will support the Marketing Manager to develop and implement strategies to ensure revenue and room night sales goals are achieved, marketing action plans are created and implemented, results are monitored, reviewed and achieved. The Assistant Marketing Manager is to be the main channel between the marketing function and the hotel teams and also between the marketing function and the sales teams; supporting, guiding and steering hotels with their local marking activity whilst also helping ensure engagement with Starboard and Brand marketing activities

What does the “day-job” look like?

Team

  • Assisting hotel General Managers, Sales team members and the Marketing Manager with day to day marketing tasks and coordinating marketing projects and activities as requested.

  • Organising and maintaining Marketing templates for use by the Sales and Hotel teams (in localised activity) guiding teams in their use and collating feedback, as part of a review and update process.

  • Supporting the content and social media coordinator by proving “in-time” feedback from the hotel and sales teams.

  • Producing additional marketing communications, such as flyers, brochures and exhibition-related projects, in support of sales team activities.

  • Assisting hotel based marketing activity with the production of artwork, sourcing images, print buying and checking copy.

  • Produce clear and concise written correspondence in the form of letters and emails

Commerciality

  • Keeps promotional materials ready by coordinating requirements with hotels and sales teams.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading trade publications.

  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Setting up tracking systems for marketing campaigns and online activities.

  • Track competitor activity by keeping abreast of market changes the marketing mix used by competitors.

  • The Assistant Marketing Manager must deputise for the Marketing Manager in their absence, taking ownership and responsibility for the marketing function/team.

Guest Experience

  • Helping teams to provide guests with information (example: loyalty programmes, area attractions, restaurants, facility information) to enhance guest experience.

  • Helping the Sales Community as they schedule conventions and/or business group activities at the hotel.

  • Ensuring all collateral, activity undertaken by the hotel and/or sales teams is brand appropriate and works towards Starboard hotel’s strategy in line with the vision and values of Starboard hotels.

  • Lead marketing efforts to up sell guests on hotel services, offerings, and amenities Business Stakeholders and Social Responsibility

  • Helping General Managers to effectively communicate and market aspects of the hotel that are sustainable or “green” and use information to gain new business opportunities

  • On behalf of the Marketing Manager work with 3rd parties (marking/ PR agency) to maximise local and group level investments and ensure campaigns, artwork and projects are inline with individual brand identities

  • Raise the awareness and reputation of Starboard hotels locally – supporting the General Managers and PR agency when they are acting as hotel representative for media related enquiriees

  • Ad-hoc duties – unexpected moments when we have to pull together to get a task done

  • Graduate with previous experience in a marketing team.

  • Working towards CIM or other recognised qualification.

  • Well organised and self motivated.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure

  • Confident and outgoing personality.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively to tight deadlines

  • Excellent command of written English with copy accuracy.
