Starboard Celebrates Hampton by Hilton Topping Out Ceremony

Starboard Hotels is set to add another key property to their ever-expanding portfolio after the final “beam” was put in place at their first ever London location during a special landmark ceremony.

Representatives from Starboard, together with friends from construction company the RGB Group, Hilton Worldwide, Ealing Council and other distinguished guests, assembled for a topping out ceremony at the new Hampton by Hilton London Park Royal.

Topping out ceremonies are a builders' rite that are traditionally held when the last beam or, in the case of Starboard Hotels, the final mix of mortar and concrete is placed atop the construction. The ritual dates back centuries, and sees cement mixed with wine, oil, corn, salt and a yew branch - all symbolic items set to bring good fortune to the building.

Paul Callingham, Executive Chairman of Starboard Hotels, and Neil Russell, Managing Director of RGB Group performed the topping out ceremony on the hotel roof against the stunning backdrop of London's cityscape.

Paul said: "The Hampton by Hilton is the twenty-first hotel in the Starboard family which will be opening in March 2020. It will be the first Hilton hotel for Starboard and the first for our company in Britain’s capital city.”
