Paul Hingston Appointed as New Finance Director

Starboard Hotels, one of the UK’s leading independent hotel operators, owners, and developers of franchised and own brands hotels, has announced the appointment of Paul Hingston as its new Group Finance Director.

Taking up the post following a short period as interim Finance Director at Starboard, Paul will head up the Starboard financial team from the business headquarters in Beaconsfield, joining the business as Starboard’s flagship new London property, the Hampton by Hilton London Park Royal, prepares for its much-anticipated opening in late Spring.

Paul’s appointment further strengthens the senior management team at Starboard Hotels as the business continues to develop its portfolio of 20 hotels, including properties under IHG, Accor, Wyndham and Best Western brands, in addition to independent hotels in Epping Forest, Windermere and Teignmouth.

Welcoming Paul to Starboard Hotels, Managing Director Keith Griffiths said: "We are pleased to appoint Paul as Financial Director of Starboard. He brings a wealth of financial and corporate experience to the business and his knowledge will be a huge asset to Starboard as the business continues to prosper.

“Paul will make an important contribution as part of the senior management team and joins our business at a very exciting time as Starboard expands its UK-wide portfolio with our first London property, the Hampton by Hilton Hotel currently under construction at Park Royal.”

Commenting on his appointment, Paul said: “Starboard has a great platform for growth already in place, aligned to great brands like IHG, Accor, Wyndham, Best Western and now Hilton. The portfolio is delivering growth with a strong management team in place to really build on that, maximising the potential of the hotels we already have.

“I am delighted to join Starboard and I am pleased to be working with Keith and the team. This is an interesting time for the company. I bring a huge amount experience of rapid growth and acquisitions together with a lot of corporate finance knowledge that will help the company to take advantage of its strong position within the UK hospitality sector.”

Paul began his finance career with KPMG where he first qualified, before moving into senior financial management roles in industry, aviation and hospitality. He is also on the management board of the local Society of Chartered Accountants.
